Umpiring hockey is a challenging and rewarding experience. You need to be fit, you need to be a good ‘people manager’ and you need to be fair and honest. On top of these things it is very important that you have good communication skills and, yes, last but not least, you need to know the rules of the game. If you think you have these qualities and would like to know more then contact us at Hawkes Bay Hockey and find out how to get involved or how to progress.
Umpires courses are run on demand and could be held in a school for current umpires or teachers and parents wishing to become umpires at school level competitions.
