Fun Sticks Start Postponed

Please note that the Fun Sticks Hockey that was originally to commence at Hastings Girls High School tomorrow (Saturday, 19th) has had to be postponed. It will now start next Saturday, 26th May at 8.30 am.

Former Hawke’s Bay and Academy Players feature in the NZ Under 21 Men’s Squad

The New Zealand Under 21 Junior Black Sticks Squads were named on 12 May featuring 5 former Hawke’s Bay Representative and Hockey Academy Players. Central Districts also have two women named in the National squad – Michaela Curtis and Georgia Barnett who are both Manawatu based players. The former HB Players named were Sam Greaney, Rob Creffier and Brennan Alexander-Parker all now playing in Auckland; Ryan Cosgrove, now playing in Wellington; and Angus Hazlett, now playing in Canterbury.

10% Growth in Hockey Player Numbers

The Hawke’s Bay Hockey Winter competitions are now in full swing with a 10 % growth in player numbers. The largest increase is in the primary schools where 2 new schools have joined the Hastings based competitions. The number of players from existing hockey schools have also increased.

Black Sticks Women – here in Napier!

Come and see NZ’s finest women hockey players in action!

The Black Sticks Women’s Team is training here at Park Island over the period of a week from Wednesday, 16th May and everyone is invited to come and watch them train! In addition, they will be playing three games – one against our HB U.18 Boys Team; one against Wellington U.21 Men’s Team and one against a “Barbarian” Men’s side. SPORTS PARK HAWKE’S BAY HOCKEY TURF PROPOSAL

Following a meeting of the clubs, schools and other stakeholders of Hawke’s Bay Hockey, held on Tuesday night, the Board of the Hawke’s Bay Hockey Association Incorporated unanimously resolved to support the proposal to build a Tier One hockey facility at Sports Park Hawke’s Bay.
