Festival Hockey
The Big Save Festival is a fun tournament for Primary and Intermediate School aged children. It is held every year at Park Island Hockey Stadium in Napier.

The Year 7 and 8 Festival is a fun programme with an open registration for anyone in year 7 or 8 wanting to expand their learning and help prepare for the transition to full field hockey.  A 6-8 week development programme, with an option to participate in a three day festival held in Lower North Island in the September/October school holidays. Programme is run on Sunday mornings.

Sunday sessions will begin in Term 3 on Sunday 9th August 9am - 10:30am and run through to Sunday the 27th September.

Sunday 16th August onwards trainings will be 10:30am - 12 at Park Island.

The Lower North Island Under 16 Festival is an open registration for anyone under 16 at 1st January of the participating year and in year 9 or above. A 6-8 week development programme, with an option to participate in a four day festival held in held in Lower North Island in the September/October school holidays.

Representative Hockey
Under 16 Nationals, is a selection basis tournament team for anyone under the age of 16 and over the age of 14 at the 1st January of the participating year. Tournament locations and date are set by Hockey New Zealand, and tournaments are played during the September/October holidays. Campaigns are self funded by participants, as per budgets set by HBHA.

U18 Nationals is a selection basis tournament team for any under the age 18 and over the age of 15 at the 1st January of the participating year. Tournament locations and dates are set by Hockey New Zealand, and tournaments are played during July holidays. Campaigns are self funded by participants, as per budgets set by HBHA.

National Senior Championship is a selection basis tournament for anyone over the age of 18 at the 1st January of the participating year. Tournament locations and dates are set by Hockey New Zealand, and the tournaments are played during September. Campaigns are self funded by participants, as per budgets set by HBHA.

Masters Hockey is a selection based programme for players over 34 years of age. Men's and Women's teams are represented at National Level across different age groups. National Tournament is held every year in late February.Â

If Hawke's Bay Masters Hockey do not have a team entered in your current age group, we are able to help find a team that you can draft to for the tournament.

WOMEN'S MASTERS 2027 TOURNAMENT MUSTER

Muster for any women interested in playing Masters Hockey at the National Tournament in Christchurch: March 7 - 13, 2027. Followed by casual lunch at Three Wise Birds for anyone interested. Anyone over 30 is welcome to attend however to be eligible for a Masters tournament team you need to be at least 35 by December 31 next year. Please arrive 15min early so we can sort teams and warm up prior to playing.

We are hoping to enter two teams in 2027, the age grade of which will be determined by interest. So if you are interested in playing at next year's tournament, we strongly encourage you to attend. If you are unable to make this date, please contact us via messenger or chat to a Masters Committee member.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: With the 2027 National Masters Tournament being held in Christchurch from 7–13 March, we need to lock things in a little earlier than we normally would. Travelling to the South Island means we need confirmed player numbers so we can finalise team entries, flights, accommodation and transport as soon as possible.Â

For that reason, we’re asking all players who would like to represent Hawke’s Bay in 2027 to confirm their commitment by 15 October 2026.
Confirmation will be by way of a $50 deposit into the Hawke’s Bay Women’s Masters Hockey account (available on HBWMH facebook page) along with written or verbal confirmation of your commitment to a Masters committee member / the Masters messenger account.

After 15 October, we’ll use the numbers we have confirmed to make decisions around team entries and, where needed, start approaching players from other regions to help complete teams. Having a clear cut-off also means that if we aren’t able to field a team in a particular age group, Hawke’s Bay players have plenty of time to explore opportunities to play for another region.Â
​
We know October feels early for a March tournament, but with the extra travel involved this year we do need firmer numbers sooner than usual. If you’re planning to play in Christchurch, please make sure you confirm by 15 October so we can plan teams and travel with confidence.
​
